Review: RocketDock for Windows

This is a visual review on RocketDock for Windows.

If you’ve used a Apple Mac or a Windows PC before, then you’ll know one of the key differences between Windows and Mac.

One has a task bar, and the other has a dock. They are both unique and they are quite similar.

For example, on both platforms, you can minimize programs from them. You can even launch programs from them too! They can be personalized to suit you too.

Today, I am going to show you a neat little program that installs on your Windows PC and gives it a personalizable dock.

Its called RocketDock and its Freeware Software.

It takes up no more than 12MB – not even 1GB.

Don’t forget – RocketDock is NOT available on Mac… Well, why would you want 2 docks on a Mac anyway?

RocketDock is a smoothly animated, alpha blended application launcher. It provides a nice clean interface to drop shortcuts on for easy access and organization. With each item completely customizable there is no end to what you can add and launch from the dock.

Depending on What version of Windows you are using, RocketDock’s appearance will change.

Here is what RocketDock looks like on Windows XP

Here is what RocketDock looks like on Windows Vista

Here is what RocketDock looks like on Windows 7.

I personally prefer Windows 7’s icons on the Dock.

When you first install RocketDock, you will be greeted with RocketDocks default icons. You can take out these icons easily.

Just grab an icon and pull it out on to the desktop.

If you want to add an icon instead, just drag and drop it to a space on the dock. Simples.

Anything you can drag on your computer, you can put it on the dock!

The Practical Side of RocketDock

Now you know what RocketDock is and how to use it, it’s time to learn what RocketDock will do for you.

It may be a useless program if you are used to using the Start Menu or the desktop icons, but it is quite practical for some things.

Say for example, you have an essay that needs finishing. You can just drag and drop the essay straight onto the dock and it will be there waiting for you to complete it. It will be in your view so you wont forget about it.

RocketDock comes with a very easy to understand and use settings window.

You can have RocketDock looking the way you want it. You can change its sensitivity from high to low and even when it appears.

Other than that, you can even have RocketDock installed just to make your computer look cooler!
